Annual Assessment Report (AAR)
- AAR are due at the end of the fall semester instead of the spring semester. For this year it's 12/1/2020.
- AAR assess the previous year instead of the current year.
The new AAR templates are available here.
Most departments already submitted their AAR in spring. They will need to submit AAR again this semester, but the good news is that the new AAR will be almost the same as the spring one, assuming that the spring one covered the previous year (i.e. Fall 2019 and Spring 2020). The new AAR template does have a new section called "Impact of COVID 19". In this section, programs should describe the challenges faced, and measures taken to ensure continued student learning and the PLOs/SLOs were met. This is a WASC requirement to the universities. My understanding is that general information in this section is OK, and if something can be tied to specific PLO/SLO, it's even better.

Assessment Using Canvas
There will be some workshop on how to use tools provided by Canvas to do assessment. Veena will also provide some training videos.
Assessment Using CSNS
Here's a video showing CSNS rubrics features.
Department Progress on Assessment Using New ABET Outcomes
- Software Engineering - Requirements rubric is replaced by Software Engineering - Analysis rubric to better assess the new SO #1.
- Ethics in the Computer Age rubric is updated to better fit the new ABET language, and this rubric will be used in both CS 3801 and 4961 (previously it was only used in CS 3801).
- Software Engineering - Evaluation rubric is added.
- Lifelong Learning is no longer an ABET outcome.
- In order to evaluate the Analysis and the Ethics rubrics, we made the following changes to the Software Requirements Document (SRD) Template:
- Added Section 2.1 System Analysis.
- Replaced Section 6 Other Requirements with Legal and Ethical Considerations
- Added Section 2.1 System Analysis.
- Mapped all required courses (including new courses) to new outcomes.
- Some data for new outcomes already collected in Spring 2020.
